Roof Leak Repairs in Chattanooga
GAF Master Elite & Carlisle Certified Leak Repair Since 1978
A leaking roof doesn’t stay a small problem. Don Kennedy Roofing has been finding and fixing the source of roof leaks for Tennessee property owners since 1978, and our Chattanooga team brings that same depth of experience to homes and businesses throughout Hamilton County. We’re a GAF Master Elite residential roofing contractor, a Carlisle Authorized Applicator and Perfection Award winner, a BBB-accredited business with an A+ rating, and a proud member of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA). We’re also fully insured.
Those credentials matter when a leak is doing damage behind your walls or above your ceilings. They tell you the team walking your roof has been held to a higher standard.

Why Chattanooga Property Owners Call Us First
Our premier customer service is the backbone of Don Kennedy Roofing, but what sets our leak repair work apart is the honest assessment we give before any work begins. We don’t default to a replacement recommendation or patch every leak the same way. Our roofers inspect the full system first, paying attention to the details that reveal whether a targeted repair or a full replacement is the right fit for your property.
That approach matters in Chattanooga specifically. The region receives roughly 51 inches of rainfall annually, well above the U.S. average of about 38 inches, and the hilly terrain around the city influences roof pitches and drainage in ways that don’t apply in flatter markets. Water stains on ceilings, visible mold growth, and damp insulation are all signs a roof is actively letting water in. Chattanooga’s climate makes those warning signs worth taking seriously.
Roof Leak Repair Techniques We Use
Leaks originate at specific failure points. Our repairs target those points directly rather than treating surface symptoms.
Flashing Repair & Replacement
Damaged or improperly sealed flashing around chimneys, skylights, vents, and roof edges is one of the most common leak sources. We repair and replace flashing to address leak-prone areas at penetrations and transitions.
Shingle Repair & Replacement
Cracked, curling, or missing shingles leave the underlayment exposed. We replace damaged shingles to support both protection and appearance.
Underlayment Repair
When moisture has penetrated beyond the surface layer, the underlayment beneath the shingles may need attention. We repair underlayment damage before it reaches the decking.
Sealant & Caulking Repair
Deteriorated sealant and caulking around penetrations, joints, and transitions allow water to work in at seams that were once watertight. We reseal those areas with materials selected for long-term performance.
Flat Roof Membrane Repair
For low-slope and commercial roofs, we locate and patch breaches in TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, and built-up roofing membranes. Flat roof drainage problems amplify any membrane failure, so accurate diagnosis matters.
Repair or Replace: How We Help You Decide
Not every leak calls for a full roof replacement, and not every damaged roof is worth patching. Before we recommend anything, we inspect the extent of the damage, the age and remaining lifespan of the roofing system, and the condition of the decking and underlayment. We determine whether the affected area is isolated or a sign of broader deterioration across the system.
When a repair can restore the roof’s performance and extend its useful life, we recommend the repair. When the inspection reveals that replacement is the more cost-effective path, we say so. That honest evaluation is what we’d want from a contractor working on our own roofs.

“I have spoken positively about our experience to a couple other friends and neighbors needing a great roofing company.”James P.
We had a top notch crew who swarmed our roof
"We had some hail damage from a storm in May 2025 and received some money from our insurance company. We worked with Shane Taylor for a more comprehensive roof and gutter/guard replacement rather than just what the insurance check would provide. We had at least 15 contractors knock on our door with an important distinction in that Don Kennedy was not a storm chaser. I contacted them. We had a top notch crew who swarmed our roof and our project manager Joe was a great communicator and took ownership with a couple bumps we experienced. To be expected in a major project like this and they rose to the occasion. Excellent work and result. I have spoken positively about our experience to a couple other friends and neighbors needing a great roofing company. Thanks."- James P. -
“Financing was easy and I have piece of mind that the job was done correctly”Wendi L.
The crew was amazing!
"Noticed a leak just before Thanksgiving. Called Don Kennedy for a quote to get the leak fixed. A technician (Nathanael) was out the next day and we discovered the company that roofed my house 15 years ago did a terrible job (no flashing around some vents, no underlay in parts). Bottom line: fix just this problem and gamble that the rest of the roof was okay, or replace the entire roof correctly with Don Kennedy. I went with Don Kennedy. The crew was amazing! They let me know what they were doing, they cleaned all the nails up (went over the yard and drive way more than twice with magnets), and the roof looks great. The foreman (Wesley) was out multiple times to discuss the work with me and to check the progress. Also had new gutters put on by DK as those were not installed correctly either. Same thing -- crew was great and the foreman was out to check progress multiple times. Financing was easy and I have piece of mind that the job was done correctly and if anything goes wrong, I can call Don Kennedy and they will fix it for me. Could not be happier with this decision."- Wendi L. -

He finished ahead of schedule and promptly followed up
"We are new to the Nashville area and needed some minor repairs done to the roof of our new property. Nolan Evans, with Don Kennedy Roofing quickly responded to address our concerns. Nolan gave us an approximate timeline for the repair. He finished ahead of schedule and promptly followed up with the details of the repair. We wish we could give Nolan SIX stars but they only allow FIVE! Thank you Nolan, you are the best!"- Bob & Sherry -
“He did an excellent job showing and explaining the problems that caused the leak after a thorough inspection.”Ron S.
They took the time to explain what they were going to do
"- Ron S.My experience with Don Kennedy Roofing began when Ethan Burke did an inspection of our roof after we had a water leak in our ceiling after a hard rain. He did an excellent job showing and explaining the problems that caused the leak after a thorough inspection. He took all the time I needed to understand what the problem was and what would be needed to fix that problem. He then pointed out some other issues that could be a future problem. He also made sure we had a good idea of what needed to be done now and what could be done in a second step later.
After we agreed, the technicians who came out to fix the problem were polite and considerate. They took the time to explain what they were going to do and got their work done in a timely manner. When the repair was done they let me know and they had cleaned up all debris in the areas where they worked. I would highly recommend Don Kennedy Roofing for roof repairs or a new roof if needed.
